June Fun and Friends

The weekend after
Ingrid's birthday weekend she had a final visit from her babysitter Angie and Angie's daughter Ella. It had rained so, I set up the playhouse in the living room to give Ingrid a change of scenery. She has mastered the art of going in and out the door. Ella set up the playhouse as a store, and was selling all of Ingrid's toys to her mother for invisible dollars. After each sale, Ingrid would step out from the store and retrieve her toy from Angie. Ingrid has also mastered the art of knocking the house down. When she is ready to dance, she heads over to boombox and starts bobbing up and down. A month later she has mastered a number of additional dance steps - in addition to bobbing, she throws her arms up in the air, claps her hands, twirls in a circle, thrusts her belly forward and walks on her tip toes. Not all at once. But often in rapid succession. The polka dot dress photos were taken the morning of her first music class prior to which I determined the dress was too big. So you see her studying the bird guide on the front patio with a smaller dress on while she waits for her chauffeur. Toward the end of the month, Renee, Savannah, Ingrid and I took a lunch swim break at the racquet club (which turns out to be very near our house). Ingrid had a great time swimming, climbing in the chairs and meeting a three-legged dog.

Birthday Breakfast - June 13

In honor of Ingrid's first birthday we went out for breakfast at the Mission Cafe. Ingrid had scrambled eggs, sausage, bits of tortilla, black beans, blueberries and spoonfuls of my smoothie. I figured outdoor dining was best, so that nature would simply re-assimilate all the food hurled or dropped by Ingrid. The highlight of the outing for Ingrid was the river of stones separating the two areas of the state employee parking lot across the street from the restaurant. It being her birthday weekend, she got to spent some time sampling the rocks and selecting a few to bring home. Birthday or not, when we got home it was time for chores. Ingrid is very helpful with hanging laundry and sweeping. At bedtime we stepped outside to look at the sky... and there was a double rainbow. Click to enlarge the pic and you'll see the 2nd one above the more obvious one.

Dressing Ingrid Up (~June 11)

A few days before Ingrid's birthday, it seemed a good idea to me to break out some dress up things for Ingrid. The wig is one that Mama, aka Oma, bought in Saugatuck back the 80s. I'm a little amazed that these pics aren't all blurry because Renee and I were laughing hysterically the entire time. Ingrid was actually quite happy in this get up, until the very end. She especially liked having the dealie-boppers on her head. Once she figured out how to take them off though, she preferred chewing on them.
